I Wonder about love

Seeing through the eyes of a student observer.

Being In Esol my cooperating teacher and I go into their Language arts and Social Studies class. In this class Mr. Thomas the teacher stated the class was constantly getting bad grades on their vocabulary tests. In class we would give the students extra time and help with their vocabulary words but the students did not comprehend the definitions or the correct spelling. My cooperating teacher brought her ESOL students to her class and tried to help them as well but it did not help. Mr. Thomas decided to change the method of teaching the vocabulary terms. He gave the students the definitions in six words or less along with having the students write the word and definitions more than once. After the first vocabulary test the students’ grades began to improve and have been improving ever since.  After seeing this improvement I began to truly understand the point of being a student observer ho w you form bonds with your students and want to see them fulfill their highest potential. In this situation Mr. Thomas knew his students could do better so he changed his teaching method to fit his students.  

Waiting for Superman

I enjoyed watching waiting for superman it showed that we need more schools with excellent standards so that all students can receive a great education and achieve great things. This movie showed parents wanting to do more and give more to their children by putting them in a school lottery in a better neighborhood.

        The panel at the end of the movie was I great truly enjoyed hearing my peers and other view points on the subject of education. Dr. Crocker posed a great question “Are we poor because were uneducated or are we uneducated because were poor?” That was a great question I believe we are both one thing I saw in the movie was these families did not have the money to move their kids to a better school district causing their child’s education to suffer and there are numerous families out there like that now uneducated because they are poor. Although there are some people that at the same time are poor because they are uneducated they may not have had a good education causing them to have hardship and poverty.

        The same way Dr. Crocker asked us I ask you “Are we poor because were uneducated or are we uneducated because were poor?”

21st Century Classroom

My vision of a 21st century classroom would be centered around technology, finding a new up to date teaching methods and grabbing the students attention. Their will be a computer for each student's access. There would be a smart board in the front of the classroom so they students would be able to interact during the lesson to keep their attention and show them they are involved with their learning aswell. I also find music to be a great way to learn new things so i would have a music station that allows students to listen to lessons in a new way for example learning the fifty states or their times tables. Using new age technology to assist in teaching will be my main focus in my 21 century classroom.
